Lunacy Parties Start Again @ Voodoo

Author: Sonar  //  Category: Just Blogging, Upcoming Events

This year’s Lunacy Parties at Voodoo kick off this 30th. Always and insane time. To start them off this year, they invited Rocky Horror, JeffET, and me for a three man funk, soul, disco, electro, remix-ashup event. These events are always pretty crazy. I’ll post pictures if you don’t show.

WTF Event! Actually it’s a party for Charleston Water Keeper

Author: Sonar  //  Category: Just Blogging, Upcoming Events

This just popped up over the weekend. The folks over at Charleston Water Keeper had a change for their upcoming event at the Eye Level Art warehouse. The guys that they had booked for the entertainment, Party On Marz couldn’t make it. (Which kind of sucks because I checked out their site and they seemed like a pretty cool DJ duo. Hopefully, they will make it to the Chuck sometime in the near future.) And because of a recommendation from none other than Marcus Amaker, the folks from Charleston Water Keeper got in touch with me to drop some tunes at their event. The event should be pretty ill! Hit the jump for tickets to the event.

Scoop Studios Presents “UP” with Scott Debus

Author: Spaced Invaders  //  Category: Just Blogging, Upcoming Events

Hailing from New York, Scott Debus moved to Charleston, SC three years ago and opened a gallery that showed his art as well as others on Bogard St. Debus is the Co-curator and co-organizer of Kulture Klash, the bi-annual multi-disciplinary contemporary art event in North Charleston that incorporates his New York persona.

Various paintings that Debus creates start as pure color and they morph into characters that become faces and figures. The artist describes his process of the new original painting, “UPtake” in the simplest form: “it’s like staring at clouds and pulling pictures out of them.” The superhero and ancient religious idol influenced painting, “I Don’t Believe in UP”, actually has the faces of local artists that Debus has collaborated with recently. They are all  flying over the slums and dump while a McMansion is perched up above on a pile of dirt.

Here’s an event that We’ve got coming up:

Break It Down Now: An Intern Block Party

Piccolo Spoleto needs your help going green with this through-the-decades themed block party, produced by the talented Office of Cultural Affairs interns. Entertainment will range from an 80’s cover band and break dancers to local performers playing today’s music and includes performances by Quiana Parler & Friends, Bueller, and Spaced Invaders. This event will also take you through the 80’s to today while highlighting how far we have come through the last few years environmentally. Step out on our “green carpet” dressed in your favorite 80’s or 90’s attire or get creative and make an outfit out of recycled materials. This free event promises to bring out the next generation of “green” Piccolo Spoleto enthusiasts to party through the decades into a “greener” tomorrow.

Save the Date…Kulture Klash 4 is just around the corner

Author: Sonar  //  Category: Just Blogging, Upcoming Events

Kulture Klash 4 is coming up on April 14th. The Spaced Invaders have been asked back to perform. This time in a larger venue. Gustavo Serrano, one of the people who puts this together says that the venue will be much larger and will have even more areas for us to project on. I’ll keep you all posted.
